Customs Compliance Manager, Canada Customs



The Customs Compliance Manager, Canada Customs is responsible for managing all customs compliance activities related to the importation and exportation of vehicles, parts and non-production materials for Canada in order to maintain a high level of compliance with the Customs Act, Customs Tariff and related regulations and requirements as required by Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA).

Responsibilities will include managing the compliance for all customs programs (classification, valuation, origin, etc.) throughauditing and reviewing of activities,supervising of personnel engaged in the compliance activities,maintaining control log of compliance activities and providing guidance and support to staff for current imports as required. In addition, the Customs Specialist will manage the annual Partners in Compliance verification activities and prepare the annual Partners in Compliance report for CBSA. The individual will consult with government officials on matters pertaining to customs,tariff regulations and related policies as well as maintaining up-to-date files of requested and issued rulings from CBSA taking the appropriate steps to insure compliance with issued rulings and coordinate system development with ITM based on Canada Customs' requirements. The chosen individual will be responsible for responding to government requests for information and prepare reports to government agencies as well as making recommendations for changes that enhance the efficiency of operations and increase the compliance with the regulations.

This position also has the responsibility of mentoring and coordinating training for technical certifications of staff (CSCB training for Certified Customs Specialist) and managing technical training of staff, as required

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor degree in Business Administration with a focus on supply chain management, operations management or related field
• Certified Customs Specialist or Canada Customs Broker's License
• Minimum 10 years' experience in the administration of Canadian customs laws and regulations
• Minimum 5 years' experience in automotive industry or similar industry
• Prior experience in managing customs operations or customs compliance

• Excellent organizational and analytical skills
• Strong management and good interpersonal skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Cooperative interaction with management and government officials
