Knowledge of traction power system components including power, rectifier, distribution and SCADA equipment.
Knowledge of computer based catenary designs and structural support systems.
Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite 2000, AutoCAD and estimating tools).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Must be eligible to work in Canada.
Must possess a well-rounded understanding of all railroad / transit systems to allow systems integration through overall project design. Job Description: URS Canada is seeking a Systems Engineer for our Rail and Transit department, based in our Markham, Ontario office.
The successful candidate will:
Lead, manage, and mentor junior engineers in the design of systems elements for railroad and transit projects.
Coordinate end-user OCS requirements and criteria. Serve as project OCS engineer and represent the firm's interests in developing and reviewing designs.
Develop and review cost estimates and projections.
Participate in project working meetings and suggest alternative designs in performing Value Engineering review and analysis.
Provide suggestions to create adjustments as necessary to keep construction costs within budget.
Prepare/review milestone design submittals.
Review contractor submittals on the installation of OCS components and software.
Manage budgets, schedules, and deliverables, and undertake technical work associated with light rail transit. EOE M/F/D/V
